Esau and Jacob

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Note: If you are looking to book Machado de Assis, see Jacob and Esau (the book).

Esau and Jacob is a story of Genesis, part of the Bible. It is about the relationship between the twin sons of Isaac and Rebekah. According to tradition, the eldest son had exclusive rights. Among the twins, which was first born Esau's mother had a preference for younger, Jacob, came with him to plan to deceive the father who was old and could no longer see well. Rebekah helped Jacob to impersonate Esau, the right to steal it. That creates a great enmity between the twins. However, in Chapters 32 and 33 of Genesis we find the reconcilição these two brothers. This story is part of the best known biblical events. The brothers' story inspired the book by Machado de Assis, who also reports the rivalry between twin brothers, and mother in the center of the dispute. In 2004, he released the book The Taste of Disallowance: Esau and Jacob in the Jewish Tradition authored by Daisy Wajnberg psychoanalyst who argues that this is one of the most debated passages of the Hebrew Bible.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR BLESSING, BY A mess of pottage

Once Jacob was a bowl of lentil stew, Esau came when, returning from an exhausting chase.
Give me - asked Esau - a little of this food, I am dying of hunger.

- Yes - Jacob agreed - but in return you must give me your birthright. It serves the exchange?

- I'm starving to death - reflected Esau - that to me is the birthright? And the stew looks great and appetizing!

And without further hesitation, accepted the proposal of his brother and said:

- I promise to agree to the exchange.

- Well, is your promise on oath - demanded Jacob

Taken the oath, Esau ate and drank without imagining that he had given up, for a pittance, one of its most precious rights.

Many men should be like Esau, they sacrifice the future and ruin their lives, valuable assets by exchanging momentary pleasure of a mess of pottage!

I confess that I am charmed by the biblical messages.

The Bible is a book that reveals all the mysteries of the human soul, with fantastic power of revelation of positive and negative aspects of human personality.

The Bible is true, it reveals all the capabilities of quantities and indignities of the human species.

The Bible shows the Heaven and Hell, the impenetrable human psychology.

One of the greatest preachers of the Gospel that I know is Pastor Piraginne Pascoal, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Curitiba.

Pastor Pascoal, whose spiritual and moral integrity I trust, is an exquisite exegete the study of human psychology, of grandeur and squalor of the human soul.

Pastor Pascoal uses and abuses of human psychology, to show all aspects and conditions of fragility of our humanity in the face of the divine plan.

I miss the good times they attended worship services at First Baptist Church of Curitiba, and could learn from the wise and inspiring words of Pastor Pascoal Piraginne ..

Watch the weekly program "Day to Day," sponsored by First Baptist Church of Curitiba, I see the face of profound knowledge of the Bible Pastor Pascoal, and I am aware of your words, I'm enthralled with their messages, rich in lessons.

I've been writing daily about the need to care for the environment, protect and preserve ecosystems and biodiversity, and while admiring the lovely and gracious countenance of my admired idol, began to remember the conflicts of Esau and Jacob, who during I covered many years in different posts.

Why Esau traded his father's blessing for a mess of pottage, which was also theologically God?

What happened to Esau, which prevented him from measuring the difference between the "Blessing" (Paterna and Divine), for a simple dish of lentils?

Recalling the biblical text, there in the Book of Genesis, and contextualized to the present day, cause wonder and amazement to verify that we are unable to learn from the mistakes of our peers, because in our daily lives we change the "Blessing" of Paternal Deity, by a simple dish of lentils.

What has been my lentils?

I have been thinking every day how divine blessing, as many natural beauties, how many moments of charm, magic, happiness, peace of mind, tranquility, health, rest, I lost because I changed my "Blessing" by dishes of lentils?

How many drugs are needed to reassure the spirit that changed the "blessing" for a "mess of pottage?

How many sections of analysis in the doctor's office?

We exchanged mutual respect, education, civility, science, education, fellowship, altruism, peace, reconciliation, family, contact with nature, preserving life, simple dishes of lentils.

There are different "blessings" that we lose in exchange for thousands of lentil dishes offered daily through the media.

This is a pivotal moment in all our lives when we must decide whether we want the "blessing" or the mess of pottage.

I invite all my friends in Brazil and around the world, followers on Twitter, Facebook and readers www.dia-da- terra.blogspot.com, so that together, do a deep meditation on the rich teachings of this tragic moment in the life of Esau, who gave his "blessing" his father, for a simple and insignificant "bowl of lentil soup
."

When possible, visit the First Baptist Church of Curitiba, meet Pastor Pascoal, and learn from their inspiring Biblical messages.
